Membership Membership at WKRB is open to all full or part-time students of Kingsborough Community College regardless of major. Although you do not need to be a Broadcast Major at Kingsborough, you must be a current student in good standing. In order to participate at WKRB, your academic index must remain at or above 2.00, and you must not be on either disciplinary or academic probation. While there is no guarantee that you will have a spot at the radio, both faculty advisors and student staff will do everything in their power to get you involved. But be persistent! Each semester we lose many of our hardest workers to graduation. Winter and Summer modules are especially good times to get involved.
Training The studios at WKRB are professional facilities requiring hands-on training for anyone wishing to have their own time-slot on the air. Training consists of six weeks of training in all aspects of radio production, both behind the scenes and on the air. FCC rules and regulations as well as professional production and performance techniques are also covered. Training sessions are led by the faculty advisor and experienced broadcast department staff. Sessions are held between 9AM and 5PM Monday through Friday for the first six weeks of each Fall and Spring semester. If you’re a broadcast major looking to start a career in radio, or you’ve always wanted to have your own radio show, get involved at WKRB. For More information, email us at gm@wkrb.org. |
